Advancing Climate-Smart Agriculture in Kasese District

In September 2023, we initiated the Advancing Climate-Smart Agriculture in Kasese District project.

This project provided 63 farmers in the Kitswamba and Kyabarungira subcounties of Busongora North County, Kasese district, with essential knowledge and tools to address climate change challenges and promote long-term agricultural sustainability.

Goals:

Enhancing Agricultural Resilience through Climate-Smart Practices: The project aimed to educate farmers about various climate-smart agricultural techniques. This project encompassed techniques for soil and water conservation, the implementation of drought-resistant crop varieties, and integrated pest management approaches. The project seeks to improve agricultural resilience against climate variability by providing farmers with these tools.

The project aims to establish a knowledge-sharing network that will enhance collaboration and facilitate knowledge exchange among farmers in Kasese.

The initiative created a network that facilitated the exchange of best practices and insights on climate-smart agriculture via field demonstrations and farmer-to-farmer learning opportunities.

This project illustrates SAFI’s commitment to supporting farmers in Kasese and fostering a more resilient and sustainable agricultural future for the region.
